The Plugin Itself:
Two things go in. One thing comes out.
SimpleMerge gives your players a single screen where they can combine any two
skills, items, weapons or armors. Results stay hidden until they're discovered,
so experimenting feels like finding something rather than reading a shopping list.
Setup takes about five minutes.
WHAT YOU CAN BUILD
Alchemy, forging, cooking, gem fusion, spell splicing, monster synthesis. Two
Potions into an Elixir. A fire skill plus any sword into a Flame Sword. Two
Ember Blades into an Ember Blade+. The system doesn't care what you call it.
THREE WAYS TO DEFINE A MERGE
Recipes - exact pairs you write by hand. Full control, one entry at a time.
Tag Rules - label your items with notetags and write one broad rule. "Any fire
thing plus any blade thing" can cover eighty combinations in a single entry.
Family Tiers - tag an item with a family and a tier, and two of them
automatically produce the next tier up. Three notetags builds a whole upgrade
ladder with no recipes at all.
Use one, use all three. Recipes always win over tag rules, which always win
over family tiers, so you can define broad behaviour and then override it.
FEATURES
- One clean screen: two slots, a live result preview, and a filtered list
- Results show "? ? ?" until discovered, then stay revealed
- Skills, items, weapons and armors all mix freely with each other
- Failed merges hand the ingredients back by default, so experimenting is safe
- Per-recipe gold costs, switch requirements, and custom success messages
- Protects class skills, equipment skills, Attack and Guard from being consumed
- <NoMerge> notetag to lock down quest items and plot-critical gear
- Every line of on-screen text is a parameter - rename, retheme, translate
- Open from the main menu, from an NPC, or both
- Track discoveries from events to reward players who experiment
- Full mouse and touch support
SETUP
1. Drop SimpleMerge.js into js/plugins and switch it on
2. Add one recipe: two item IDs in, one item ID out
3. Playtest
The included ReadMe walks through your first merge step by step, then covers
every parameter, notetag, plugin command and script call - plus a
troubleshooting section for the mistakes people actually make.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
SimpleMerge.js - the plugin
SimpleMerge_ReadMe.txt - full documentation
COMPATIBILITY
RPG Maker MZ. Adds one command to the main menu, so if you use a custom menu
plugin you'll want to add the command through that plugin instead - there's a
script call for it in the ReadMe.
Works with existing save files. No plugin dependencies.
TERMS
Free for commercial and non-commercial projects. No credit required, though
it's always appreciated. Edit the code as much as you like.
