Halloween/Horror Music Generator - RPG Maker MZ & MV
A downloadable generator
SAMHAIN forges original Halloween & horror music — a whole season of it — entirely from scratch in your browser.
Pick a category, pick a scene, shape a few dials, and it composes and synthesizes an original loop with no samples and no repetition. It's a dev tool: make a track, export it, and drop it into your game. Your loops are original and yours to ship.
This is the big one — 53 scenes across 13 categories, built from 12 fundamentally different musical forms, so the tracks never blur into one ambient wash.
13 categories, 53 scenes
Filter the scene grid by category, then pick your haunt:
- Haunted House — Foyer, Attic, Parlor, Séance, Cellar
- Graveyard — Midnight, Mourning, Wraith, Gravedigger
- Witchcraft — Coven, Brew, Hex, Sabbath
- Monsters — Lurking, Rampage, Creature, Prowl
- Slasher — Stalker, The Chase, Dread, Kill
- Gothic — Cathedral, Vampire, Requiem, Ballroom
- Occult — Ritual, Summoning, Grimoire, Portal
- Spooky-Fun — Trick-or-Treat, Skeletons, Costume Party, Monster Boogie
- Cosmic — The Void, Signal, Madness, Eldritch
- Folk Horror — Harvest, Effigy, Wicker Man, Standing Stones
- Undead — Zombies, Crypt, Ghoul, Revenant
- Phantom — Apparition, Poltergeist, Haunting, Banshee
- Carnival — Big Top, Funhouse, Clown, Carousel
12 musical forms
Every scene is built from a genuinely different construction — not one texture reskinned: creepy music box, John-Carpenter synth ostinato, gothic organ, ritual choir + drums, spooky jazz-noir, creepy carnival waltz, ambient dread, slasher chase, orchestral stabs, folk-horror ritual, eerie theremin, and playful spooky-fun.
You're in control — 6 sliders + 5 selectors
- Dread — cozy → nightmarish (mode darkness & dissonance)
- Whimsy — grim → gleeful (playful Halloween vs pure horror)
- Intensity — sparse → overwhelming (density & layers)
- Tempo — dirge → frantic
- Ornament — plain → florid (trills, runs, arpeggios)
- Space — close → cavern (reverb & tail)
- Plus Form (force any scene into another of the 12 forms), Meter (4/4, 3/4 waltz, 5/4, 6/8), Palette (Orchestral / Synth / Acoustic / Choral), Key, and Length (Short → Epic ~90s).
- New haunt rolls a fresh seed — new mode, tempo, form detail and arc every time. The seed + sliders reproduce any track exactly.
Export & drop in
.ogg— game-ready, with LOOPSTART / LOOPLENGTH loop tags baked in. Drop it into your project'saudio/bgm/folder and RPG Maker (MZ and MV) loops it seamlessly..wav— uncompressed, for editing in a DAW.
Good to know
Runs offline in any modern browser — nothing installs, nothing uploads. A short README with full instructions is included. Every sound — organs, choirs, music boxes, synths, drums — is synthesized from scratch with the Web Audio API. No samples, no external assets.
SAMHAIN emulates the style and techniques of Halloween and horror scores; it does not contain or reproduce any existing music, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any studio, film, or rights holder.
FAQ
Is the music royalty-free? Can I use it commercially? Yes. Everything SAMHAIN exports is original and yours to use in commercial or free projects, no attribution required. A credit ("Music forged with SAMHAIN") is appreciated but optional.
Does it use samples or copyrighted audio? No. Every sound is synthesized from scratch with the Web Audio API. It never reproduces any existing track — it emulates a style.
With 53 scenes, does it all just sound like the same spooky ambience? No — that's the point of the 12 forms. A music-box lullaby, a John-Carpenter synth pulse, a gothic organ, a ritual choir, a slasher chase and a bouncy "spooky-fun" romp are built completely differently. The Form selector also lets you push any scene into another form, and Palette re-instruments it, so the combinations run into the thousands.
Will the loops loop seamlessly in RPG Maker? Yes — export the .ogg. It carries LOOPSTART/LOOPLENGTH tags MZ and MV read to loop with no gap. (The .wav has no loop tags; use it only for DAW editing.)
MZ only, or MV too? Both. They both read .ogg for BGM. Put the file in audio/bgm/.
Can I use these outside RPG Maker — another engine, a video, a stream, a haunted-house display? Yes. The .ogg/.wav are ordinary audio files; the loop tags are simply ignored by tools that don't read them.
Do I need to install anything or be online? No. It's one .html file — download it, open it in a browser, work offline forever.
How do I get the exact same track back later? Note the seed shown on screen and keep your slider + selector values; re-enter them for an identical render.
No sound when I open it? Click Play once. Browsers block audio until you interact with the page.
The OGG button says the encoder didn't load. Refresh and retry. Fallback: export the .wav and run ffmpeg -i track.wav -c:a libvorbis track.ogg (no loop tags that way; prefer the built-in OGG export).
Is this "AI music"? The composition and sound come from hand-written procedural DSP code — not a generative-audio AI model. The tool's code was developed with LLM assistance, which is disclosed above.
