BOOMBOX lays down original funk & disco — a whole crate of it — entirely from scratch in your browser.

Pick a category, pick a cut, ride a few sliders, and it composes and synthesizes an original groove with no samples and no repetition. It's a dev tool: make a track, export it, and drop it into your game. Your loops are original and yours to ship.

Built to the same expansive scale as its Halloween and Christmas siblings — 52 cuts across 13 categories, laid down from 12 fundamentally different groove forms, in the spirit of '70s funk floors and Y2K skate-game radio.

13 categories, 52 cuts

Filter the grid by category, then drop the needle:

  • Dancefloor — Mirrorball, Four on the Floor, Hustle, Pump
  • The Streets — Grind, Downtown, Rollin', Sidewalk
  • Turntablism — Scratch, Cut & Paste, The Mix, Wax
  • Roller Rink — Skate Night, Roller Disco, Neon Wheels, Rinkside
  • Jazz Café — Rhodes, Late Set, Espresso, Nightcap
  • The Pocket — On the One, Slap Bass, Deep Cut, Greasy
  • Boogie Palace — Boogie Down, Discoteca, Electric, Get Down
  • Cop Show — Stakeout, Car Chase, Shakedown, Precinct
  • Block Party — Cookout, Handclaps, Soul Food, Uptown
  • Neon City — Midnight Drive, Skyline, Afterglow, Chrome
  • Soul Revue — Groove Line, Sugar, Feelin' It, Testify
  • After Hours — Last Call, 3 A.M., Velvet, Comedown
  • Graffiti — Tag, Spray, Throw-Up, Wildstyle

12 groove forms

Every cut is built from a genuinely different construction — not one loop reskinned: four-on-the-floor disco, slap-bass funk, big-beat / breaks (chopped brass and turntable scratches), acid jazz, electro-boogie, house groove, soul groove, cinematic wah-funk (congas + wah guitar), electro breaks, nu-disco, jazz-funk fusion, and downtempo lounge.

You're in control — 6 sliders + 5 selectors

  • Groove — straight → greasy (swing & ghost notes for that deep pocket)
  • Drive — laid-back → full-throttle (energy & density)
  • Bright — dark → sizzling (opens the filter for disco shimmer)
  • Tempo — slow jam → frantic
  • Flash — clean → showoff (turntable scratches, horn stabs, fills)
  • Space — dry club → cavern (reverb & width)
  • Plus Form (force any cut into another of the 12 forms), Meter (4/4, 6/8, half-time), Palette (Live band / Synth / Electro / Strings & horns), Key, and Length (Short → Epic ~90s).
  • Fresh cut rolls a new seed — new mode, tempo, groove and arc every time. The seed + sliders reproduce any track exactly.

Export & drop in

  • .ogg — game-ready, with LOOPSTART / LOOPLENGTH loop tags baked in. Drop it into your project's audio/bgm/ folder and RPG Maker (MZ and MV) loops it seamlessly.
  • .wav — uncompressed, for editing in a DAW.

Good to know

Runs offline in any modern browser — nothing installs, nothing uploads. A short README with full instructions is included. Every sound — the slap bass, wah guitar, Rhodes, horn stabs, disco strings, drum machines and scratches — is synthesized from scratch with the Web Audio API. No samples, no external assets.

BOOMBOX emulates the style and techniques of funk, disco and related grooves; it does not contain or reproduce any existing songs or recordings, and is not affiliated with or endorsed by any artist, label, game, or rights holder.

FAQ

Is the music royalty-free? Can I use it commercially? Yes. Everything BOOMBOX exports is original and yours to use in commercial or free projects, no attribution required. A credit ("Music forged with BOOMBOX") is appreciated but optional.

Does it use samples or copyrighted tracks? No. Every sound is synthesized from scratch with the Web Audio API, and it never reproduces any existing song or recording — it emulates a style. Even the turntable "scratches" are synthesized noise, not a sampled record. All cut names are original.

With 52 cuts, does it all just sound like the same funk loop? No — that's the point of the 12 forms. Four-on-the-floor disco, a slap-bass funk workout, a big-beat breakbeat with scratches, a smoky acid-jazz set, an electro-boogie and a downtempo lounge cut are built completely differently. The Form selector also lets you push any cut into another form, and Palette re-instruments it (live band vs synth vs electro), so the combinations run into the thousands.

Will the loops loop seamlessly in RPG Maker? Yes — export the .ogg. It carries LOOPSTART/LOOPLENGTH tags MZ and MV read to loop with no gap. (The .wav has no loop tags; use it only for DAW editing.)

MZ only, or MV too? Both. They both read .ogg for BGM. Put the file in audio/bgm/.

Can I use these outside RPG Maker — another engine, a video, a stream, a skate montage? Yes. The .ogg/.wav are ordinary audio files; the loop tags are simply ignored by tools that don't read them.

Do I need to install anything or be online? No. It's one .html file — download it, open it in a browser, work offline forever.

How do I get the exact same track back later? Note the seed shown on screen and keep your slider + selector values; re-enter them for an identical render.

No sound when I open it? Click Play once. Browsers block audio until you interact with the page.

The OGG button says the encoder didn't load. Refresh and retry. Fallback: export the .wav and run ffmpeg -i track.wav -c:a libvorbis track.ogg (no loop tags that way; prefer the built-in OGG export).

Is this "AI music"? The composition and sound come from hand-written procedural DSP code — not a generative-audio AI model. The tool's code was developed with LLM assistance, which is disclosed above.
